Not so fast my fellow Mopar buddies. after work today I was excided to take the charger out so I did and the problem reaccured minus the alt. wire shorting and no back firing. I was stopped at a light and i lost all power. I got the car back home and checked over the the bulk head plug and sure enough the same terminal tab is melted down to nothing. i did notice something that i overlooked before. on the fire wall coming from the voltage regulator is the gouey stuff dripping down.

Hmmm.... So the saga continues.... Yeah that regulator looks like it's in top shape.... Yeah, right... Top of the junk pile shape... I'm wondering if you got a short somewhere making all this heat up, hey Nacho what you think?

I'm not certain, but I think that we're looking at a pic of the actual problem, not just a symptom!! When a voltage regulator goes bad, guess what happens? The voltage is no longer being regulated!! Could be wrong.....been wrong before.....but I think I just may be on to something, here!! #Scope# #Scope# ....or not!

That could be what's causing all the problems... Time shall tell... I'm hoping that the regulator is the only problem now, other than the melted terminal again.. Amoung whatever else melted

Alright I got a new regulator and new tab and installed them. car started right up just like last night. I cant take it for a ride right now due to darkness and my wife is sleeping "she goes to work at 3 A.M. "so I dont have anybody to tow me home if it happens again. I dont think that it will happen again I have to agree with Jer I think the regulator was the problem. so lets cross our fingers. I'll let you guys know as soon as i get back from the test drive. #DriveBurnout#

I'm agree with Jer... thats a problem caused by another problem. Although I never have seen that fail on regulators I have seen them on ECU. Very tipical for WHAT I THINK is cause by an unrated and unconstant alt output. All Venezuelan Mopars got that fail on ECUs. That made everybody here changed for Phord modules and Chebbys alts.
The unrated and unconstant alt output is just a conclusion I took after 8 years on Mopar world ( Since I got and understood my car electricals ) and checking all what everybody around got as fails. Not really a scientis lab check

Well today I finally got a chance to take out the car for a test drive. I am happy to report no problems so far. I was able to cruise around for a total of about 15 miles stop and go. The car ran great and most important I did not lose power. tomorrow I am going to take it on the highway and see how it performs. I was very cool to get heads turning to see what the rumble was. once again I must thank you guys for the input you kept me sane through all this.

That's great news about the electrical system! #2Thumbs#
I dated a girl who drove a Cordoba with a manual moonroof. I know they are nice. I don't suppose that helps much. #SillyMe#
