What are the four Hoses connected to the driver's side of the gas tank? I'm Sure it has to do with venting. They go from the gas tank to a small tank behind the rear wheel. there is a cover held on by 3 bolts Protecting them .They are pretty crusty and I'm going to change them. It looks like two different sizes. Should I replace them with fuel lines I'm assuming. There's also a 5 th hose but It doesn't connect to the gas tank.

There is an evaporation canister in the driver's side quarter panel fender well. The hoses are indeed 2 different sizes. Yes, replace them with fuel lines. If they are orignal they have crimp style hose clamps which could be a pain to get off.

Yup, that's it. It's not the exact set up as mine but similar. My vent line comes out of the valve cover then out to the back. No Charcoal canister. I'll use fuel line to replace the old hoses.
My tank is not crusty at all. Just some rust closer to the filler neck. Some spots of light surface rust in other areas. The gas came out clean.
The sending unit appears to be new but I think they may have re used the old ring gasket and ring clamp. I'm hoping that was the reason for the leak at the ring gasket. I would hate to have done all this only to have it leak in the same place. I ordered a new ring and gasket to pick up in the morning. Napa auto parts can get them. I took the opportunity to paint the tank black.
This was my first gas tank removal and dealings with a sending unit. The worst part of it was removing the fuel. I bought an inexpensive manual pump from autozone $12. It did the job but i dont see it lasting very long. The 5 gallon capacity fuel canister I had Was enough to capture all the fuel. The tank was near empty when I started. I took enough out to make it safe and light enough.
Here is a tip that I learned during the process....... I did this with the filler neck removed. and the tank out of the car. The tube that came with the pump was curly. It was difficult to get the suction end into the fuel that remained in the tank. I zip tied a wooden stick to the tube to make it rigid. This worked well. It also allowed me to remove Nearly every drop of fuel after the tank was on my driveway. I tilted the tank so that the remaining fuel pooled in the corner. Worked like a charm. The rest of the Residue evaporated.

It was under the battery tray. I didn't follow the line that came off of it. Was wondering what that was. Yes Thanks , I will use fuel line.

I am fairly certain that the canister under the battery tray is a vacuum reservoir, for the heat/ac.

I am fairly certain that the canister under the battery tray is a vacuum reservoir, for the heat/ac. I think your right . I was looking in my Chiltons Charger/Coronet manual. 1971 to 1974.(ebay find) . It states that "all vehicles have an evaporation control system . 1972 and later vehicles also include a charcoal canister and a overflow limiting valve." My car is a 1971. There's not much on AC information in the manual. It states that the AC should be left to the professionals . Hmmmm.

my car doesn't have any kind of vacuum reservoir anywhere. ( its and AC car ) 71 only thing. looks similar to a air-grabber hood vac reservoir. And because of it's location, most people don't even realize it is there.
