This morning finished what little I had to do to complete the hideaway assembly into my 74 bumper. I know I should have did a breakdown on how to do the swap. Sorry guys. I was just so excited to have an affordable set up that once I started I could not stop. It's easy to do once you take it apart 6 times because the sequence was wrong during assembly. I am also going to tuck in the front bumper while I have it out. I have to lengthen the holes in the main brackets and whatever else I have do. I'm furloughed tomorrow so I can take the brackets to my buddy to blow the holes a bit or use his saws-all. It's not the best looking set up but it's a hideaway system. The only thing as far as painting is the parallel stripe across the center of the doors and grill. I got a little darker paint for that. Total investment so far is $68.00. Yes I wrote $68.00 including the hideaways. The deals are still out there. A little bobbishness here and there and some good old horse trading. Will post the final pic hopefully tomorrow. I'll have to get with Nacho for the electrical setup.

Looking good Bob! I am glad you did not paint it all black! Careful on the tuck job.....make sure the headlight doors have adequate clearance of the headlights. As far as deals being out there, you are definitely right. Contrary to popular opinion....there are probably more deals to be had now than there has in 10 years! I think your car is screaming out for one last touch of modification. Some 72 Rallye tail lights would really be a nice finishing touch in my opinion.

Thanks for that tip. Rallye tail lights? Hm, never gave it a thought. I see a potential bobbish transaction in the future. Fall Carlisle is comming up.

Bob, 71-72 hideaway headlight cars used shorter headlight pedestals. While they are not absolutely necessary, the headlight doors will be close to the headlights without them. I did not use the shorter pedestals when I converted my 72 from standard grilles. I probably would have, if I had remembered. Since your fore/aft placement of the front bumper is going be accomplished by slotting your existing brackets, I figured it was worth mentioning. I saw on the other site that you were mending one of the tabs on one of the grille surrounds. My best luck doing that was using a thin sheet metal patch and riveting to both pieces. 2 holes and rivets in each piece. Then if desired, slop some JB weld on the area. You can do it so that the repair will never be seen.

I think Bob you need to do some more explaining on this Bobish deal
What did some get made at someone else and throw the setup in the garbage and you rescued them or what
Enquiring mind at work

What I will do about the space is flip up the doors and slide as far as possible back and tighten. The reason I went over there about the jb weld stuff is I needed a quick answer.

Bob, what color did you paint the headlight doors? They look gray.
