$853 ....reserve not met??? thats hilarious. I paid less than half of that for my 71 R/T hood and insert and that was only 4 years ago. I really like the part about it being 2 piece...one for open, one for closed..... #SayWhat# No...its two pieces, so water won`t get in the engine compartment. Lower piece has a drain hole and tube.

Gee whiz, Beaver... "This is a hard to find part with a low reserve" What do ya expect him to do...give it away for a measly 853 dollars? [Prediction: Judging by the bidders interest, I'm betting some "smart buyer" comes up with enough to meet the reserve!] Bets?

That is funny too! Because when the car was sold missing the R/T hood insert....the seller went out of his/her way to mention that they "could not find the hood part" which would logically be a reference to the insert. On the flip side, the insert does appear to be in very good condition. I don`t see a lot of sagging in the upper piece as is common. I generally do not blame sellers for high prices. High prices are simply are a reflection of what the market will yield at any given time. It does not shock me that an insert would bid that high. It does surprise me that with the bidding at $900, the reserve is still not met. I would think that a $500 reserve would have been adequate.

$1000.53 reserve not met. Geez...thats just plain retarded. How much $$ can you really expect to get for a hood insert?

In one way, with Tom: you can't blame the seller if the buyers are willing to "jack" prices up to the sky.But on the other side of the coin, I can see Nacho's point: if the sellers wouldn't put such a high reserve on items that don't warrant it, maybe the feeding frenzy it causes wouldn't happen. Here's another point...one I just noticed when I was browsing through Moparts the other day....if there weren't so many Mopar owners with 5,6, 7 even 10 different 70's muscle cars they are restoring (or already have restored), used parts wouldn't be so high....I mean, look at the signatures of those members, and of DC com, too....are some of these guys car owners or musuem piece collectors. How do I figure that? Well, let's see: if one guy has to buy (just for an example) 5 bucket seat tracks (or bench) during the course of "restoring" several cars, what do you think that is going to do for the price and availability of used seat tracks for the next guy? They are going to become rarer and more expensive....Supply & Demand. So, in essence, because this hypothetical multi-multi-Mopar owner has seen fit to restore 6 or 8 3rd gen B body cars, and if you multiply this by God only knows how many people are doing this, POOF there goes the prices thru the roof, and the availability thru the cellar! There are only so many specific original pieces to specific cars out there...then they're gone.So I guess I'm saying that maybe we shouldn't be greedy, and not snap up ALL of the available cars and parts out there...shouldn't 3 or 4 Chargers, or Cudas, or Roadrunners or Challengers be enough for ONE guy? Save a few parts for that poor guy that is just trying to put ONE back together, and barely has the money to do even that! [My first of the year, presented in a timely, calm and concise manner] #SoapBoxRant# Happy New Year! ~Jer~ P.S.: That still doesn't justify selling a "shell" car with "important" paperwork (just not the title) for 4 grand, then selling a piece off of it for a reserve that's higher than another 1000.
