Unique Feature Returns with a Showdown Between Mopar and Ford Muscle Cars
The Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia (ADAGP), producers of the Philadelphia Auto Show, proudly announce its partnership with Carlisle Events for its 2014 Face-Off competition. The competition, which will be a key feature at this year’s Philadelphia Auto Show on February 8th-16th, will be an automotive showdown between two iconic brands known for their muscle cars, Mopar and Ford.
The Face-Off competition powered by Carlisle Events is a unique challenge that invites local car club enthusiasts to display what they consider “their best of the best,” as well as different models of each namesake that tell the story of the niche brand and how it has evolved over the years. Carlisle Events will play an integral role in this year’s Face-Off as it will spearhead the coordination of which cars are selected for each of the respective displays as well as staff the displays to help greet and educate guests on the “players” involved in this one-of-a-kind competition.
“Carlisle Events is known to produce some of the best specialty shows on the East Coast so they are a perfect fit for our Face-Off competition,” said Michael Gempp, director, Philadelphia Auto Show. “Their expertise, knowledge and background in specific automotive niches, particularly muscle and vintage collections, is truly going to strengthen the effort and make it even more entertaining for our guests.”
Upon their completion of visiting the Face-Off display, which will be located in Rooms 201 and 204 of the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Auto Show attendees will be asked to cast their vote on which display they enjoyed more. Votes will be cast via text message and the Philadelphia Auto Show online app. The winning clubs will not only receive bragging rights, but also $2,500 to have donated in their name to a local child-related 501(c)(3) charity of their choice and $1,000 to be divided between the clubs that supported the first-place display.
“We are very excited and honored to showcase the diverse lineage and history of the Ford and Chrysler Brands in partnership with the ADAGP,” said Bill Miller, co-owner of Carlisle Events. “We work closely with our Philadelphia regional dealerships and OEM representatives annually as we present our events in Carlisle, PA so it was a natural progression for us to be a resource for a collector car display of this magnitude at such a high profile event. By inviting our friends and partners that frequent Carlisle, we hope to share our enthusiasm for American Muscle with the attendees of the Philadelphia Auto Show. We call on all attendees to vote for their favorites to settle a long running dispute between the Mopar and Ford faithful. Who will be king of the hill? That will be up to the attendees to decide.”

Carlisle Events to Support Second Annual Event During Popular February Show
When the calendar flips to April, the 2014 Carlisle Events’ “home-based” schedule will commence as the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds hosts ten of the company’s 14 annual weekends. Thousands upon thousands of car and truck centric enthusiasts as well as those interested in the sports and outdoor lifestyle will travel to central Pennsylvania for a wide array of weekend happenings. Two of those events, the Carlisle Ford Nationals and the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals, host some of the automotive world's most popular cars and trucks. Be it a Mustang representative of Ford’s muscle or the Charger, showcasing Mopar’s muscle, these two brands have a lot of history and strong support among their respective backers. This year, not only will Ford and Mopar be showcased at Carlisle, the two brands will square off at the Philadelphia International Auto Show and Carlisle Events will be there to help with this one-of-a-kind face-off for the second consecutive year.
As part of the contest at the auto show, February 8-16 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, local Ford and Mopar clubs will display their best cars for show goers to experience and evaluate. The contest will take place in rooms 201 and 204, located on the bridge between the Main Exhibit Hall and the Grand Hall. As part of each display, more than a dozen cars will be on hand and enthusiasts can vote for their favorite piece of American muscle onsite and in person via conveniently located kiosks. On the Ford side, expect to see Mustangs, Torinos, Cougars, Fairlanes, Galaxies and more. For Mopar fans, anticipated cars include Barracudas, Challengers, Daytonas, Chargers and more. After days of examination and voting, the results will be tabulated at the conclusion of the event. The brand with the most votes will be declared the winner. Each group is competing for bragging rights and for the ability to say that their brand, be it Ford or Mopar, is better than the other. Ford is seeking to retain its crown, having its Mustang easily defeat GM’s Camaro in 2013.
With so many "power players" gathered in one location during the event, Carlisle Events is excited to be included as part of this competition. Staff from Carlisle will be onsite assisting members from the Philly area Ford and Mopar-themed car clubs in the automotive evaluation, all while interacting with enthusiasts. Though Carlisle Events has been very visible in recent years at the auto show, it is just the second time in the 113-year history of the historic nearly ten-day event that Carlisle will be such a prevalent player.
"This is such a great opportunity for us (Carlisle Events) to be involved with the Philadelphia Auto Show as well as the Ford and Mopar brands," said Ford Nationals event manager Ken Appell and Carlisle Chrysler Nationals event manager Ed Buczeskie in a joint statement. “By being part of this face-off, we can show our support for these great brands as well as an auto show with over a century of history to its name. The clubs that will support this great display and represent both Ford and Mopar during the Philly Auto Show also support Carlisle annually as part of the June (Ford) and July (Chrysler) events. Appell and Buczeskie concluded by adding that "our presence at the auto show also gives us a great forum to interact with automotive enthusiasts from all over who will converge on the City of Brotherly Love during the winter and who also join us in Carlisle each summer."
