Well Tom, I guess you and I are ready for some baseball! Have to admit that my interest in baseball has waned a lot over the last few years. I did not watch a single game of the playoffs or World Series this year. Time for me to get back to junk-yarding more. I was not really expecting the Steelers to win. They have a decent team, but need a good bit more turnover on defense.

I watched my Tigers as long as they were playing, but once they were out, I don't recall watching much.
I did not expect the Lions to make it past the next round (Seatle), but I was hopeful we'd be able to beat Dallas. Oh well, there's always next season to look forward to. I'm pleased with this years effort from the team and the new staff. But there is work to be done.

Dave, I was reading the other day that the Lions won't be able to be able to re-sigh Suh. That Megatron and Stafford deals pretty much guarantee that. It will be interesting to see what team will pony up for him. I think we have probably seen the last of Troy Polamalu, Ike Taylor, James Harrison, and Brett Kiesel in Pittsburgh. Personally, I wouldn't mind to see Harrison back as a back up. Despite his age, he is still a workout warrior. The defense is going to see significant turnover, for sure.

Yes, our defense could change radically also. With our defensive coach set to interview for 2 -3 known head coaching jobs, with Suh perhaps moving on, as well as Nick Farley, things could look very different next year.
Add in a new center if Dominic moves on, and it could be a very different look on both sides of the ball.

Steelers let defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau go..... Kind of have mixed feelings. He is 77 years old. His defenses are said to be "complicated" , such that rookies rarely contribute. In modern era salary cap football, that is not a good thing in my opinion. Rookies need to play, year 2 they need to start. By midway year 3 you really need to know if they will be retained long term. Also, good 3-4 pass rushers and nose tackles are hard to find and expensive to keep. Over the last 5-6 years, young players on the defensive side of the ball have not been developed into starters, in adequate numbers.
Broncos looked bad today. There has to be something wrong with Manning.... That offense went from a high flying...400 yards a week passing attack, to an anemic sputtering offense.

I'm sorry to hear that Dick was let go. I like those old guys who've been there forever...sort of a fixture.
Yes, Peyton did not look good today.

I would think that this would be a good move for the Steelers. MLIVE
