OK well You guy's found better prices than I have.
I have been using PPG products it's expensive stuff, Getting all the materials alone runs me about $800-$1000
I also know of a few other sources for cheap paint but I am sold on PPG for a bunch of reasons.
I know a really good painter out here that will shoot a car for $1200 in Enamel but he's not doing any thing to the car but scuffing it and shoot. no dent and ding repair no jams no trunk Eng. etc.
You can also use Maco or Erleshribe for a cheap $99-$300 paint job.
If cheap is what you want heck just buy some paint and do it yourself in the garage I am sure it will turn out better than Maco or Erleshribe!
You can buy a $20-$30 paint gun and a cheap orbital sander and sand paper from Harbor freight and just shoot it yourself.
Ebay is another good source for good cheap Paint guns.
I would suggest a Startingline from Devilbis.
I am sure you will be more than surprised by the results.
Its how I got started
Any one can paint a car just take your time.
Here is a website I suggest :
www.paintucation.com/He has Videos showing you how to do it from start to finish!
Its easy!
;D
That site also has a Forum to answer questions for the beginner to the advanced, From start to finish Panel replacment to Rust repair.
The guys are cool and very laid back no dumb questions there just strait answers!
There are reasons why it costs so much too paint a car!
The better the Materials you use the easier your mistakes are to fix and the fewer mistakes you will make
Good luck, and please consider trying to do it your self!
Its more satisfying and Fun! we all learn from each other too boot.
Besides that your doing 98% of the work for that price listed in the first post above.
Sanding out the car fixing dents dings removing all the chrome thats the work in a paint job!
********** Prep work! prep work! prep work!*************
The painting is the easy part! If you can paint with a rattle can you can paint with a paint gun!
If you get a run you just let it dry and sand it out! and spray some more on it!
Clear is a bit different let it dry sand it out and polish it! your done!
Sounds easy doesn't it? It is!
Its just when your trying to get no flaws to fix and a Mile deep finish is when it starts getting complicated and really expensive.
But still You can get a Very nice paint job doing it your self!
You will just have a few spots to fix and they are easy to fix!
It just takes longer to complete the project and if your short on cash and have more time than money this is the route to go!
