Looking for pictures of the cardboard/tar impregnated filler pieces that go behind the sail panels on a 73 SE. Mine fell apart while at body shop, pictures would help to sort out the pieces. If anyone has used ones for sale, I may be interested.

I will try to get you pics of mine but I would just use a piece of Dynamat or what bodymen call Q pads made by 3m. It's hard enough to get the sail panel to fit without something pushing against it like the old hard stuff will do. Interesting fact, when sound deadner becomes hard and brittle it no longer has any sound absorption ability other than it's density.

1ol74 Thanks for the info. If you get pictures, that would be great also. I am also planning on new sail panels, mine are getting rough around the edges, and new headliner material wont stick to it.

What goes behind there? Nothing, according to the pics I took of mine apart as far as I remember. The fabric is attached to the cardboard and it is a bit more than cardboard. These are available new with the correct fabric as well. I got mine from Dante's ... really fair price. This is a pic that someone sent me.

odzking There is a cardboard with a tar substance sandwiched in that goes behind the sail panels. Mine are falling apart, but were still being held in place. Go from opera window to rear glass and up to roof line, and a ways below bottom edge of sail panel.. Held in place with larger push pins.

Hmm, I guess the PO took those out when they changed the headliner the first time. I do know the material you are speaking of. and yes, it falls apart quickly.

there is a guy on ebay called musclemaniac5 who was offering these for several brands and car models ( 73/74 Plymouths included ) but Can't find the link anymore. When I saw those searched for 73/74 OR 71/72 Plymouth and didn't have but MAYBE...
emailed him but no answer. Had the item on my watch list but its gone!

Dantes does have a good price on sail panels. May I make a suggestion that if there are members here that need some interior items and are perched towards buying(as opposed to just dreamin and shoppin) that we make a separate thread to list items that we would possibly purchase. Then we could email him and ask for a group discount. Just a thought. I just bought a rear seat cover and buddy seat cover from him and got a great deal. He is actually a pleasure to order from because he is knowledgable and efficient and gets you off the phone quickly. Here is a pic of the sail panel insulation from my 74 SE. They are made out of sound deadner material like the floor insulation. If you can see past the shadow of my big head you will notice the end of the left one is missing and should look like the right one.If you notice there are holes in it where plastic clips go to help it adhere. After getting these out for pics I was reminded that I need to make a pattern of these to be duplicated in Dynamat or ? before they crumble apart completely. What I'm offering to my Charger lovin' bretheren ( especially guys who love the unloved SE inspite of it's opera windows) is to make anybody else who wants one, a fullsize pattern of this and send it to you. PM me if you want one. It is rather large, 2' by 2'+ but will fit in a manilla envelope. Cost to you would be $4 to cover postage and materials. I'm in the middle of a 1000 projects but could probably get this done in a couple of weeks.

ok, I WILL GO FOR THESE...
Will you sell the pattern or the insulation made itself ? I could get the pattern, to make it locally in Vzla for my own car.
would you take Paypal?
