Ok, so now its looking likely that the ceramic was introduced in 72 and by 73 they realized it was a dismal failure with it cracking all of the time. On the 74 model year they came up with picture 2 which superseded the ceramic. I just don't know where the picture 1 valve fits in, as both Bob (ODZKing)and I had them on our 73 Chargers and I have seen a 72 Plymouth Satellite with one on it as well.

I just can share what I have found allong the years.
bakelite one ( red and black ) was used up to mid 73s ( I have found those in several 73s ). Then the brass one shown on 2nd pic was a 74 piece but mostly sure found in lates 73s too.
HOWEVER MUST TO SAY THAT REPLACEMENT is based on mids to lates B bodies bracket... straight mount, so DOESN'T MATCH 73/74 inner fender shape. Since I hate to drill holes on my car where the car got its own provisions, what I did is get a four season valve replacement ( same Mopar one ) on rockauto ( around $30-40 ) DISSASEMBLED and reasemblied back into the ORIGINAL valve bracket my car got... yes is posible and I did it. Some tricky! but posible to do it and works like a champ.
I'm pretty sure posted a thread about this, but can't recall if here or DC.com

Need to say some cars got a vacuum operated heater valve, instead wired... so some valves can change on that. I have seen those in some 71s, so they look exactly to the Red/black bakelite piece, just with a vacuum tee. really hard to find and when you do, expensive

The pictures posted by the OP are not showing up on my phone. Yup, my 1971 has a vacuum controlled water valve. It was posted about before. Had to buy a NOS part from ebay. I think it set me back about $200. Dont think there is an alternative for this type of water valve. It would be nice to have an cheaper alternative. Sent from my SM-G920P using proboards

Like others are saying most of these cars ended up very early on with the second one. Mine was unrestored original in 85 and had the second one pictured.
