I'm looking for some pics of the inside hood release cable routing, how the cable attaches to the hood release itself, and how it is mounted to dash frame. Anybody?

Nate, I just replaced mine over the summer. Mine broke at the handle inside. I found one at Carlisle and put it on at the fairgrounds, easy! It mounts on the left side under the dash and runs through a hole (naturally) in the firewall to the fender side of the booster. It then runs along the fender with the battery cables and through the square opening in the radiator support. There is a loop on the end than connects to the latch. I would take pictures for you but my car is in storage for the winter. What I did with the aid of my wife was tied fishing wire to the end (by the latch) and pulled it through, then the opposite to replace and as I said I did it right on the Carlisle show field. Bob was there as well. Took 5 minutes.

This is about the only pic I got that shows the cable coming through the square/rectangle hole in the rad support ('71). It's a pretty basic run. If you can't figure it out I could get you some pics as my car is stored but close.
