I'm needing to buy a new carburetor for my 1973 Charger with a 360. Right now I have a Holley 2245 2 bbl but my fuel inlet is stripped and I tried to helicoil it but still leaks. Can SOMEONE PLEASE help me and tell me what carburetor will work. I have not worked on anything in about 20 years..

If you want to make the jump to a 4bbl., the current issue of Mopar Action has a really good article by Richard Ehrenberg on the Edelbrock / Carter AVS carbs for the street. It's worth picking up an issue, in my opinion. MAPage 46, Demand Performance. (FYI...this page is just the index...you have to buy the magazine).

Low buck solution;if it will bottom out(tighten up)take out the line, cover the threads in JB Weld (regular kind , not fast), tighten the line back up making sure not to block the end of the line, generously coat the outside threads and fitting with JB and let it set overnight to harden before starting. More buck solution; core carb plus rebuild kit Slightly more buck solution; slightly used Performer carb plus used cast iron four barrel intake (Abodiesonly.com has about one a day listed for sale) Better solution; slightly used Performer carb and used Performer intake
Advice; If you can find somebody with a 2 barrel, don't give much for it. Not worth it. Performer carbs are easy to work on and with. Daves article would be a good starting point. Save alot of hassle and get a electric choke. They also need a adapter for mopar linkage which is about $15 from Summit. Don't bother adapting it to 2 barrel intake. Intakes are pretty reasonable. Stay away from Torker 340 intake. Even if free, not worth it. Weiand, Edelbrock, Offenhauser all make good street intakes. For a street engine the cast iron Thermoquad intake pre76 will work nicely with the ultimate score being a 71 340 intake.

A small block Thermoquad 1 3/8 primaries. Just reseal bowls with seal all. Or the new Street Demon modern Thermoquad without fuel bowl issue, get the one with the plastic center section.
Would agree with stock 340 intake.

Can someone tell me what makes the 71 340 intake worthwhile? Got one on a engine/tranny deal and debating replacing the Edlebrock 318 intake that is currently on her. TIA.
