I recently have been getting an intermittent spark. It will sometimes start and most of the time not. A suggestion of a friend was to run a wire from the positive batter terminal to the positive on the coil. It (will ) start using this jumper. From what I understand this narrows the issue down to the "ignition switch" and wiring in the electronic ignition. Possibly the bulkhead connector.
Any suggestions?
Next plan is to clean the bulkhead connection though it doesn't look very crusty at all. After that the ignition switch.

When I was taking auto classes mid-80s, one of the first things they taught you was to carry two items with you as a tech going to check a no-start....a spare HEI module for the GM vehicles, and a piece of wire to jumper the ballast resistor on Mopars. The Fords were beyond hope, unless you wanted to carry a spare EEC module.
So next time it acts up, try jumpering the terminals on the ballast and see what happens.
That's if you still have a system with a ballast.

Next time it doesn't start check for power at the coil then work backwards to the ballast resistor then the bulkhead. If nothing at the bulkhead probably a bad ignition switch. Basic ballast resistors are cheap. The ceramic rod inside the coiled wire was broke on mine so I replaced it and kept the old one in the console for a spare.

Ive tried jumping the ballast resistor and another ECU. Same issue.
Currently waiting for my new mini starter to arrive so I can continue searching out the issue. Dead solenoid.
Electrical is my weakest point of knowledge.
I have a multi meter and test light.
If I jump a wire accross from positive "battery" terminal to positive "coil" terminal. doesnt doing this leave the "starter regulator" and the ignition switch out of the circuit?
I changed the starter regulator. Same issue. Im leaning towards ignition switch.
The battery is new and strong.
