When doing my ignition switch recently I encountered similar parts like that under the dash toward the base of the steering column.

I've had 71's & 2's that had these clips holding the rear light wires. Usually attached to the housings...maybe just on cars with rallye lights? I've seen a shorter version on 70 Challenger t/l's in the trunk. I think on the 73s & 74s the harness got attached to the light housings via little plastic straps that were taped into the harness. Harness. There. I just wanted to say "harness" a million times. The harnesses on the 73/74 tail light harnesses are taped to a plastic clip screwed it to the tail light housing. That's how the harnesses are harnessed to the tail light assembly wiring harness

I think Q-man is right. I had something that looked like that laying on my garage floor a few months ago. Right after I opened a package with some 71 R/T tail lights. That location would also give it exposure to the elements. Hence the crusty appearance More so than an interior wiring harness holder....which was my initial thought. Yes, is possible! Never have dealt with untouched R/T-Rallye tail lights, just anykind of assembly already hacked and with missed parts

I found one pic of a complete set of R/T taillights. It look as if you are right. I can spot a coated metal clip on the upper side of the upper taillight, right in the middle. The white rectangular plastic wiring support is pushed over it. Unfortunately there is no other pic that would make it clearer.

In 1971 Chrysler created the Third Generation of the B-Body Chargers. A crack commando unit was created to solve any crime that they didn't commit but in which other automobile hacks would commit to these Chargers. These men promptly escaped from the daily doldrums of everyday life to the underground junkyards of the United States. Today, still wanted by the many hobbyists and fans and owners of these Chargers and possibly by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune with their endless knowledge and resources relating to all 1971 thru 1974 Dodge Chargers. If you have a problem, have a question, have no idea on what to do when restoring these cars, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the B-Team.
You guys are awesome and I loved how everyone had some real good ideas and finally saved the problem. What a team!
You guys can choose who is Hannibal, Face, B.A and Murdoch
