I'm rebuilding my 440 including adding new aluminum heads, intake manifold, headers, and exhaust system. I was wondering what are your thoughts as to the best fuel pump to add for the much hated Ethanol Gas? It's so hard to find the non-ethanol these days !

The original machincal pump has been working fine on my 440 and i run ethanol most of the time. I have a Edelbrock carb and had to put a pressure regulator in line to adjust pressure down from 8psi to 3psi. Not knowing what your going to use i just threw that out there. If you don’t turn pressure down on Edie’s you will drown them, something learned from old school mechanic. Never could get my carb working right till that was done. My engine is not high performance, that could make a difference for you.

I can't imagine that all replacement and aftermarket pumps aren't E10 compatible by now. E10 has been around for decades at this point. Strangely, thumbing through Jeggs, they don't all clearly say they ARE compatible. But this Edelbrock pump does. JEGGS

My 70/71 440HP uses a vented fuel filter (don't know if it applies in 74). The filter not only filters gas, it also removes any vapor and returns it to your tank (via vapor recovery system). This is an important part if you experience vapor lock. I buy mine at Jegs as they have by far the lowest price on this part. www.jegs.com/i/Golden-Star/189/VS08-68F/10002/-1
