Does anyone have a source for new gas tank straps for a 74? Not the wrong 71-74 straps. I have all new lines, plan on buying a new tank and really don't want to use the old crusty straps. Are the j-bolts the same as for 71-73 or are they specific to 74 also?

The straps are different. They bolt at the opposite end from the 73. Also the dimensions of the tanks are different. 74 is 30" x 26.5" x 12.75" and the 1973 is 28.25" x 25.125" x 9.5". Nacho I measured my j-bolt and it's just over 4 inches, which the same as the repros. Plus, it has the same part number in the 73 and 74 Parts CAtalog. Now the question for the j-bolt is... clear zinc or zinc dichromate (green)? Vendors claim each of their's is correct.

yes, 71/73 straps hook on front and bolts on rear, being a flat tank on top that's not a problem
74 and lates due the hump is toward to front, then the straps hooks on rear and bolts in front to be easier to fit the hump into the provision at trunk floor while raising and fastening the tank
