Hey Bill.
Personally, I'd work in this order.
Are you sure your calipers and sliders are in good, well lubricated shape? Pins or slides, they need to be cleaned of old grease and debris, and well lubricated with an appropriate grease. If you don't have that, you won't have anything.
How old are those soft lines at the caliper? 20, 30 or more years old? If you have brakes that stick (slow to apply, or slow to release), I'd think about changing those.
Last place I'd look would be the master and booster,

Say I was going to do a brake overhaul and convert the rear to disc while I am in there. Can anyone help me figure out what size rear end this is? Does anyone know of a good conversion kit for the rear discs? I don’t want any expensive brands that stick me with expensive pads. Thanks

My opinion....If you are working on a budget....get the rear disc idea out of your head and put the money where you need it.
Rear end looks like a 8.25

sometime ago there was repro combination valve replacements. I tried it... worked GREAT by just couple of years. Had to find an used one after that. There is no other option aside try to rebuild it. There are partial rebuild kits for them ( O rings and seals actually ) search here www.musclecarresearch.com/( I think parts available has being growing up since last time I visited their website )
