Well, since it's faster than my 440+6 Charger, probably won't happen anytime soon.
Yep, that's what the E320 is for. A 90% charge gives us 280 miles range; the car tries to maintain a 90% charge for optimum battery life.
I'm not sure why many folks use the long road trip as a reason not to consider EV's. For us, 99% of the miles/fuel we were using was for our daily work commute of about 50 miles, round trip and short trips around town. That translated into about $40, give or take, in gasoline for the E320 every week. The EV is a great option for these tasks. But the E320 will get the nod for any long road trips over a couple hundred miles. I think most EV owners will have both an ICE vehicle and EV in the stable for a while. Long range travel is not where current EV's shine.
Another thing that is rather nice, I don't need to worry about replacing spark plugs, oil, oil or air filters. And with the regenerative braking, the brake pads will last considerably longer than the ones in the E320. It takes a bit of getting used to but it will let me bring the car to nearly a complete stop before having to touch the brakes. There is brake fluid and coolant (for battery pack) to keep an eye on though.
And when the wife giggles like a school girl when she discovers she can say "Call mom" and the car dials her mom and she can talk to her while driving and never take her hands off the steering wheel... priceless.
