Cleaning up the bellhousing today and I noticed 3 hairline cracks eminating out from the center hub. They go up a few inches and do not appear to be deep. The car is a 73 Charger 440, A-833. Was originally a 400. I have no idea if the tranny is original or what it's out of.
Can this bellhousing still be used? I can weld the cracks if that helps, but just not sure what is considered acceptable wear on these.
Thanks
Edit: I looked up the casting number (2892513) and it is off a an early 70's B-body 400/440. Aluminum.

IMO, I would get another one. Have a friend who had a crack on his housing, and had it welded at a shop and about 8 months later he noticed that the crack was traveling past the weld. He ended up getting a new one.
