Hey Matt! I have the buddy seat option in my blue 72 SE, but believe me, if you saw a pic of it right now, you would never want one!! (I'll post a pic when the interior is done!!) Meanwhile, here's an interior pic from the car of one of our Members:The front of this particular armrest looks a little different from the stock buddy seat armrest, with the curved inward configuration and all (which by the way I think is cool)!!.... Here's two pics of two buddy seats that Tom acquired....unfortunately they're not installed, but you can use your imagination until I find a pic of one installed for you.... note the absence of that inward curve I mentioned in the pic above. Tom's 2 for comparison purps:NOTE:When you're contemplating a buddy seat install, don't forget that you're going to have to also acquire and weld (or have welded)... THESE:THAT GO HERE:REMOVAL IN ACTION:I've had these pics for so long that I can't remember who was nice enough to post them up...but they will give you an idea of the process involved in an install (and removal). i was wondering how the seat would mount in there. i was also wondering if it would work in a manual trans situation or if it would be in the way of the shifter. thoughts thoughts.. i am so confused....

I think--if I remember something correctly that Tom posted--that there are two mounting points (bosses) on the tranny, one to the front and one to the rear....for the shift linkages.
Again, if I recall correctly, the forward "shift mounting" was designed for those that wanted their shifter mounted more forward, i.e.: to accommodate a buddy seat, and the other was for a console shifter setup, etc.
You'll have to check with Tom on that one, manual trannys are not my forte, but I think Tom's putting them in all 4 of his Chargers, again if memory serves me correctly!!
Of course then--if you're swapping a manual for an auto--you're going to get into the wonderful world of installing linkages and bellcranks, clutch pedal and linkages, manual shift columns w/ the column shifter deleted, and a plethora of other modifications!!
The buddy seat & brackets will be just about the least work of all those mods.
That much I DO know.

well, when i actually drive my car, illegally mind you due to the fact that it is not legal or road worthy right now, when i shift to 1st I am basically hitting my seat. But i wonder if it because the seats that are in it are not made for a Charger and that someone else put them in there, not me. I think that it would be nice if I had a buddy seat in there but if it is going to be hard to shift then i won't. I still don't know...

Brock posted some pictures of my car somewhere on this site, I think under members chargers. It's the orange Super Bee race car under construction. It has the buddy seat, a floor shifter and also the cassette recorder on the floor. It all fits but I doubt anyone could ride in the buddy seat.

Here's your interior pic, Ray.....thought I'd save the trouble of putting a link to the entire thread and the subsequent wait time for it to load: Jer.
