After painting areas in my engine compartment over the winter, I realized that my entire charger was covered in overspray. Duh!! None of the overspray was visible but you can only feel it everywhere. I always avoided using a clay bar because it seemed tedious. Well, it took about 20 plus years after clay bars started being used for me to realize how fast, effective and easy they are to use.
It took the overspray right off! I used it on the paint, chrome and glass. I even used it on the Racing stripe decals with no ill affect. Though, I would be careful using it on decals because there are different quality decals. Mine were 3m. To bad it doesn't work on a textured vinyl Top .

Thanks for sharing, good to know. I've had a bar hanging around for years, I've made a few half attempts at using it.

From what I've read, many say you can use water or spray wax to lubricate instead of buying the "special" spray lubrication that the kits come with. Others use a few drops of soap in the water. I used the spray wax as well as the bottle the Mothers kit came with. It works great. Ill definitely use the water or soap if I have to.

The bar I used on the T/A came with a bottle of spray detailer. I used that, and it is amazing how smooth the paint is after you remove all the junk that is imbedded in it. I need to do it again actually.

I clay-barred my wife's 82 LeBaron with original paint. I used the simple McGuire's detail spray and it came out beautiful.
