Hello, I have read the threads that talk about weather or not bulge hoods ever came with insulation, what I would like to know is has anyone ever successfully attached the insulation blanket to a bulge hood without it sagging and rubbing on the air filter housing. I would like to install the hood blanket to dress up the engine compartment even though it is "not correct".

Hello.
I have installed the insulation on my Hood.
although i fabricated the bulge Hood by myself, but the inner reinforcment is cut like the original bulge Hood. i used the thicker reproduction insulation for chargers that comes in a roll, not the embossed like the orininal.

I have with no problem. One note, use the older metal clips as the plastic ones are junk. I have a pic on my phone I can email you if needed.

I have the molded hood pad. Yeh the plastic clips aren't the greatest but they're working ok. It does just barely touch the air filter but thats because I haven't punched out the cut-out.

Thank you all for the great info and pictures. When I bought my Charger it had a hood insulation blanket on it that rubbed on the air filter housing and was the start of my Powder coating adventure that inspired a fairly extensive detailing of everything from the firewall forward. I just ordered a molded black insulation pad and plan on fabricating a brace that will go side to side across the cutout section under the bulge to support the center of the insulation in the same place it is on the flat hoods But higher to clear the air filter and to keep it from sagging.
