The carpet goes in: Seems like all the vendors out there sold either Auto Custom Carpet or didn't list the brand they sold. Well I wasn't willing to pay a lot more and take a chance for the same carpet I just ordered ACC from Rock Auto with a 5% discount. I'm not trying to restore this car just make it look a lot better. The fitment isn't the best as the contours for the footwells aren't deep enough resulting in the carpet being raised up on some corners. On the rear I bolted the inner seat belts down to hold the tunnel area tight then weighted the carpet down with gallon jugs filled with water. This kept the carpet down to find the right spot to put the holes for the outer seat belts. www.flickr.com/photos/182536383@N06/48545972666/in/dateposted-friend/On the outer seat belts I had originally just cut holes for the bolt and bolted it down. This resulted in the carpet wrinkling up quite badly. To alleviate that I marked where the housing would be (with chalk) once bolted down (see pic), www.flickr.com/photos/182536383@N06/48546128612/in/dateposted-friend/then I sliced out, inside the lines, 3 sides so the housing would sit lower and the carpet would sort of sit around the housing so to speak. www.flickr.com/photos/182536383@N06/48545976256/in/dateposted-friend/www.flickr.com/photos/182536383@N06/48546130412/in/dateposted-friend/It worked out well and looks good even. No gaps are seen. In this next pic notice the wrinkle on the raised area to the right of where my led light is. www.flickr.com/photos/182536383@N06/48546127437/in/dateposted-friend/I thought that it would be held down by the seat bottom. Of course I didn't look at the seat where I might have noticed that there is a raised area of the frame and nothing to push on the carpet. After I installed the seat I ended up pulling out the carpet and spraying some of the headliner adhesive I had on it. Sure would have been easier before to do it which is why I mention it here. Now you know. Having success with that I pulled the seat belts back out to glue down some of the area and along the edge below the sill. I'll move on to the front next post as I have to run.

I've used this on my 67 carpets twice now. That big back window bleaches the carpet back there. Works great.

I bought 2 cans of that for the panels. I'm hoping I won't see any fading since the only sun the car sees is when I'm driving it.

On to the front carpet. The new carpet had cut marks in the jute padding where the console should be. I cut that out and sliced the carpet down the middle of that opening. Laid the carpet on the floor and saw I couldn't even begin to make it fit so out it came. I flipped it upside down, laid the old over top and traced out the cuts needed for the console and the end under the dash. www.flickr.com/photos/182536383@N06/48571611342/in/dateposted-friend/www.flickr.com/photos/182536383@N06/48571473211/in/dateposted-friend/www.flickr.com/photos/182536383@N06/48571622527/in/dateposted-friend/The carpet went in and out about a half dozen times before, trimming a little at a time before I discovered the carpet had shifted and my cuts under the dash were off. I installed the console to hold it down and laid out the water jugs to hold it down. No big deal as I trimmed under the dash to fit and it isn't seen anyway. Some of the cuts for the floor shifter could have been done a little better in hindsight by not cutting down so deep but the little cuts that showed below the console is covered by the seats. www.flickr.com/photos/182536383@N06/48571623492/in/dateposted-friend/The outside edge under the sill and the kick panel on the passenger side went fairly easy. The drivers side is a little tricky because of the dimmer switch. Another hindsight issue that I didn't think of till now is I should have removed the dimmer switch then laid out the carpet flat and trimmed for the sill and kick panel then marked the area for the switch hole. Again because the carpet isn't formed as well as it should be I made a cut and it and the carpet wouldn't lay flat. I had to open up the hole a bit and thanks to the company providing a plastic grommet for the switch it covers the enlarged hole. To be continued...

Looks fantastic Jeff!
But there's two weeks left until Frankenmuth. What are you going to tackle next?
Just kidding. Looking forward to seeing it in person.
