I was traveling last week visiting one of my distributors in Raleigh, NC. One of their service techs told me that his dad purchased new and still owns a 74 Charger SE 440 4-speed car.
Was their such an optioned car built?
My research found that their were about 200 74 SE 440's but no 4-speed was offered that year. I have asked him to get me the fender tag numbers but he has not got them to date.

I didn't know that. I know a guy who says he has a bunch of them. Is he lying?

hmmm, wonder if maybe, just maybe a couple snuck out of the factory early in the model year with a 4spd, cause ive seen a few around the local shows that claim they are numbers matching 440/4spds 74 chargers. Maybe nacho can set us straight, he knows these chargers better then his own self

To expand on 71gtx's point... With less than 200 Chargers and less than 220 Roadrunner/GTXs built with the 440 4-speed in 1972, it wasn't financailly feasible to continue to build that combo. Those cars got a lot of other HD equipment that the autos did not get. Eliminating all the low production components kept costs down and profits up.
