Guys.....just started last week. When I put the car in DRIVE, the Reverse lights stay on. Is this due to a bad Neutral Safety Switch? The Switch is about 12 years old.

disconect the NSS plug to check if still keeps on. Could be the wiring shorted ( black and black traced white ) after all these years with cracked covers due the heat. Of course with key in RUN or ACC. If disconecting turns off the reverse lights, then is the switch, if keeps on is the harness

If it's the switch, good luck. EVERY one I have tried leaks at least a little, some a lot!

If it's the switch, good luck. EVERY one I have tried leaks at least a little, some a lot! As soon as I unscrewed it, tranny fluid came out like crazy. Got the new one in, cleaned it up under there and now the reverse lights do not come on when in drive. They also don't come on when it's put back in reverse. So I'm halfway resolving the problem. I'm gonna order the harness along with the switch just in case. It's been awhile, but does the harness go from the tranny to the shifter inside the floor console?

I never said remove the NSS, just the plug from NSS to track where it comes the fail LOL.
Tranny harness runs taped to bulkhead and splice into a single brown traced yellow wire up to starter relay. You won't have to deal with anything inside the cab
Bulkhead plug end could get some other accesory wire attached, like A/C-Heater blower wire which is green. Terminal must be removed from bulkhead plug since that's not part of the tranny harness. And will need to be reinserted on the new plug harness
