Guys.....did the 73 - 74 Chargers have Heat Risers on the exhaust? I know my 73 does not and a friends 74 does not have one either. Asking because this came up in discussion in last nights 'Garage Night' at the neighbors. My one neighbor insists that the 73/74 Chargers have them and I argued the point that they don't. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks

I thought I'd seen something about that in my '74 shop manual so took a look. YUP, six cylinder engine had them. V-8 do not.

I have a '73 driver side exhaust manifold that I bought to use on the Coroba's 400 because it is an HP design as found in earlier years, but has cast-in standoffs for a heat stove.

Are we talking about the manifold heat control valve or intake hot air pre-heater? I always thought heat riser was the former.....

I got one on my car... its HP manifold. I'm talking about the shield over the driver manifold.Venezuelan cars didn't get it from factory, but I added it just right for the year and manifold. Catalog shows it. Now if talking about the valve on passenger side to close the exhaust and make it run those throught the crossover on intake, at certain moment on 73 this valve was eliminated. My 74 didn't get it. We need to remember this was made to acelerate the warming process for the choke. On 73 an electrical assistant was added. Coincidence? I don't think so

I read it, but for some reason my mind went to the stove, not the valve. Other than the Brewers picture, which shows one, I have nothing to add on the valve. Sorry for the confusion.
