Been busy for the last few weeks with "other things". Just not enough hours in the day. Getting close. Down to just large items for the most part. Did take an hour this evening and clean up this NOS fender, and an original hood seal for the Charger.

A few more pieces of metal today. Starting to fall behind a little. Going to have to get a lot done this coming week. So how long did MOPAR continue to stamp out replacement deck lids for 75-77 Cordobas? At least through late November 1983 it would appear.

Crestwood Dodge in Garden City which is now Suburban Dodge? I bought my new 1983 Ramcharger there. What's that hood off of?

For some reason I was thinking of the old Dodge dealer in Rochester at Rochester Road and Auburn Road...a terrible, cramped, impossible to get in and out of corner. Closed in '08/'09 with all the other dealer closings. But I don't know WHY I'm thinking that.
If there was just one Crestwood in the metro area, then Garden City would have to be it. The hood is for a Dodge Omni GLH or GLHS. I bought it from ebay many years ago when my daily driver was an '86 Omni. Mine was just a carbed commuter car that had been my Grandmothers. I loved this little cars! Anyway, carbed, they could suffer from vapor lock. So I thought adding the vented hood could not hurt, but it's a project that never happened. The car rusted out from under me. Still looked good and ran good, but the driver side strut tower to floor and sub-frame rail intersection rotted. When you tried to jack at the sub-frame, the jack kept going up, and the car did not! It would have been wildly unsafe in a crash, so it had to go. I decided to keep the hood as garage art.
As for this particular hood with the dealer name on it, I had a nice long chat with the seller when I picked it up. He had been an auto shop teacher in the Troy school system, and still lived in Troy. He had rally raced the Omni with the SCCA many years before, and was selling off the last of his Omni parts. Very nice man, and enjoyed speaking with him.

It's a shame to hear the Omni rotted. I get the impression those cars are getting semi-popular. They sure are cute.

I like 'em. I'd buy another as a commuter if I could find a clean one. A few more panels knocked out last night. I keep telling myself the front garage is almost empty, yet I keep finding more stuff! I have 4 of these for the new shop. This is the only one that was charred. I'll have to have it blasted again, and start over. My Charger's original hood. Cleaning up nicely (right side). A '71 RR 383/727/8.75 prop that came with the 8.75 axle I bought. Both headed into the Chrysler.

I don't know if there was more than one Crestwood back then. My knowledge of the 'burbs back then was pretty much limited to Wayne, Westland, Inkster and Garden City, between Telegraph and the brand new I275. I worked in Detroit near the fairgrounds for a little while but pretty much just drove straight there and back. Speaking of dealerships that closed I remember a Dodge dealer on Michigan Ave in Wayne that closed probably in the '80's. Don't remember the name but I remember buying an EGR valve block off plate for my Dad's '73 Charger w/318 because the EGR valve was bad. Imagine that, buying a now illegal part at the dealer long before the Fed mandates.
