I took the car out for a ride and realized that the console door was one of the things rattling in the cabin. I decided to take care of this by removing all the useless items from inside the compartment, as well as make my own rubber bumpers for it. Now the door doesn't have hard plastic to hard plastic contact. Though it appears that there is adjustment to tighten the door by moving the catch up or down, I figured a tiny piece of rubber would give it a nice plastic to rubber cushion. I just glued 2 tiny, square pieces of rubber in each corner. It worked perfectly. No rattle and closing the door has a better feel and sound for what its worth. They are so small and dont stand out at all. A rubber or foam lining in the bottom of the compartment will also help.

Great idea! One day in the future, someone will be restoring you car and ask on a forum who makes those rubber bumpers. LOL

They make rubber bumpers for the ashtray why not this? Lol I also cut up an old floomat to line the bottom floor of the compartment. It's the little things that add up.

It should fit tight with the latch adjustment... HOWEVER with years, the bottom section of the lid where the lock is attached begins to curve down due the pressure made over the lock button up to the point the latch does get any more adjustment and lid gets loosen.
Sometimes the screw provisions on top section of lid to hold the bottom section are broken too what gives more play to the game.

what Idea? the bumper idea is from brigond LOL. I just mentioned the reason sometimes the latch adjustment could be not enough for a tight close of the lid causing the rattling.
I had to fix my first lid because the screw provision "studs" were broken from the top section of the lid. Then noticed how the bottom section of the lid wasn't parallel to the top section specially around the lock.
