Do seat belts "age out?" I will check again but I believe mine feel good, not dry-rotted. They are just faded, but I saw a thread on for b-bodies only that talked about dying or painting faded seatbelts. If mine are safe I'd rather do that and spend the replacement money elsewhere. What do you think?

If they're safe, save the $$ and dye them.

Ya know I was thinking about that the other day. They (the government and powers to be) have put expiration dates on child seats and you can't resell them, which forces young people to have to spend more money, but there is no expiration on seat belts. Otherwise I'd be selling alot more of them.

Hmmm never thought of that, though mine do appear to be okay.

Great question on age. Hard to believe given the technology of the day that these belts can last 50+ years and still perform as designed.

My front lap belts look brand new and are still supple. They're also not discolored, probably because they're protected from UV by the housing they retract into. I'll have to check the other belts. The shoulder belts are faded pretty bad.
Someone on For B-Bodies Only suggested painting with Duplicolor. Apparently Rit doesn't work well on belts. I may try Back-to-Black and see how that works.
