I was putting my gauge cluster back in the car and after hooking everything up I noticed dual black wires going into one brown male connector, very close to the emergency brake/kick panel area. Does anyone know what this is for?

wow... I'm really trying to figure it out!!! really I can't think on ANYTHING around there
both wires spliced into one single male terminal ? what kind of terminal ? I guess the brown conector means the plastic insulator/plug ?

Question: Does your dome light work? does your key in ignition with door open "Buzz", Does the lights on "buzzer" work when door opened? I had similar 2 black wires that go to left door switch had been cut on one charger I bought.. see page 8-73 in service manual if you have... the black wires were both 20ga. The dome light is a yellow wire to that goes to the door switch. Possibly connection came loose/broke to the switch?

Sorry, the service manual page 8-73 is for a 1973 Charger which I had issue on. Not sure what page it is in the 1974 service manual but I believe they would be same schematic. 74 charger I have, has same connection to left door switch as my 73.

73 and 74 diagrams are waaay different.
While I thought on the warning buzzers system wire for driver door ground switch too, that's a female terminal and it doesn't get a "brown conector" just gets a shrinking tube to seal it so is diff from the description mentioned.

Been a while since I put mine back together, would be nice if someone could post a pic for you. Does it have full time power to it or is it keyed or with headlamps (on/off)? Does it go to the heater bulb? How about the extra wire sometimes not used for the clock?

Hope this works. I will do some voltage tests to answer some of the questions in hope of identifying the mystery plug.

Okay, yes the dome light works. Yes the key in buzzer works. No the light on when door opened buzzer does NOT work. The volt ohm meter says it goes to ground. No positive voltage.

That's female, not male!!! you got me really confused. But still can't tell what really is for. Definitelly not the door jam switch. Light on buzzer was optional. Being a 74 you will need to replace this buzzer: with this buzzer to have the light on buzzer activated: Plug for buzzer is ready on car to acceot both buzzers Now, about the mistery plug... have no idea
