It's been awhile since I've asked a question but here goes. I'm having trouble installing reproduction outer sweep on the outside of the rear quarter side windows. These are the whiskers that start at the front edge of the quarter panel, go along the top edge of the quarter panel window opening on my 74 Rallye Charger and make a sharp curve up the pillar to the drip rail. If I start to install the seal from either end, I can't get the two clips on curved portion to go into the slots in the quarter panel. If I start by installing the two clips in the curved section, the clips along the edge going up the pillar are difficult to install and pushing hard deforms the sweep. How have others installed these and what is the trick? I have two repro sets. The set from PUI is a cheaper set and they cut the back edge of the sweep to make the curve. The other set is Top Cat brand and is better made but a little off on the curve compared to my originals. The clips are installed in both repro sets exactly in the same place as the originals. It follows the trim piece mounted to the top of the quarter panel up the pillar. I tried to attach a photo but the site says it's full. Do I need to cut the back edge of the Top Cat sweeps? Thanks for any information on the install. Terry W.

it is tricky! and the watherstrip can get bent. The original ones on my car got bent while removing and the bad quality replacements I got from YR1 around 12 years ago were easy to install due the way they are curve shaped ( with cuts all around the curve ) and still got somehow bent. I got the topcat whiskers as a new replacements but not installed yet. I guess will be also tricky to install. I guess will find out that trick when times come

Success finally. I had to elongate the two corner slots in the quarter panel maybe 3/16 inch each and the Top Cat sweep slipped right in. The bottom corner slot, I had to elongate towards the front of the car and the top slot right above it, I had to elongate towards the roof. The sweeps did not bend at all and look good. I used a rotary carbide file in a variable speed drill to elongate the slots. I wish I could upload photos here but I did on the forbbodies only website. Thanks. Terry W.
