As far as the 383, is it a 4 bbl? If so should have high flow exhaust manifolds also a windage tray but you won't see that from the outside. There is a pad on the right (from the driver's seat) of the distributor with letters and numbers stamed into it. Gather that info and go online to find out the specs. Will tell you the year etc. If you see a HP stamped it is a real 383 4bbl. Up to 1970=330hp, 1971=300 HP. On the passenger side where the oil pan meets the block is a flat spot that has the last 8 digits of the VIN. If it matches your cars Vin it's the original engine. Casting numbers on block also provide info. Thanks 71se. I'll take a closer look when its delivered. Here's a picture of the engine on my twitter account: /photo/1 The dealer says its not the original, so I'm not expecting numbers to match.

I see high flow exhaust manifolds so that is a good sign. I see it looks like a 2 speed or variable speed wiper & drum brakes?

I felt like Fred Flintstone braking on the test drive. Never thought much about wipers before, except the blades are tiny. I'll see what I can learn when it's delivered.

Just watched the video. Looks like it was built at Lunch Rd as there's not much info on the fender tag. They on!y seem to put the codes on the tag that pertained to options that created changes to the body. Maybe they left a build sheet in it but since this is a Super Bee clone no big deal but it is always neat if one can be found.
So I just took a look at your fender tag. If it is the original here's what I see: V1X = Vinyl top I believe C16 = Console FC7 = Plum purple paint A09 = Concealed headlight (71 code only) E65 = 383 4bbl 300hp D32 = HD auto trans The N in the N1A indicates 383 4bbl 300hp and this and the following 6 digits should match your Vin.

Drums should grab like hell on the initial bite, especially at low speed. It will be easy to figure out which one you have.

That sounds about right from what I've seen and what I've been told, except I don't see the concealed headlights, if that means the ones with covers that flip up.

One more thing to figure out. I just remember that at 50 mph the brakes didn't do anything until I pushed down hard - I almost missed the turn. By the way, with a google search I found a guy selling reproduction 71 R/T and Super Bee Hood inserts on eBay. They were in black, unfinished fibreglass. Claims to be the last 1 of 10 available. -JDC

The concealed headlight setup is not repoped and can be a little expensive to find a good used one so the standard grill was probably chosen during the restoration.

I guess a lot can happen to a car over 50 years. Fortunately I prefer the standard grill.
