I need to give the long but short story. My father died a year ago January and left me his 1974 Dodge Charger. It's a pretty sweet ride and before he past he re-worked the AC. However, I can't get the blower to kick on. I did notice that he installed a switch right under the existing blower/AC/Climate control. There are two wires. One runs directly to the battery and the other is tied up and taped off; not going to anything. I am thinking this switch MAY engage the blower. BUT, I am not sure WHERE the blower motor is located. I think it is under the dash? Maybe that tied up wire gets tied into the blower motor? I'm learning more and more about cars but not even a novice yet.
Please help.

Hi and welcome.
The blower is on engine bay side attached to the A/C box, BUT the firewall gets the hole for it, so it can be removed from engine bay without touch anything down the dash. Three nuts and done.
Now, about the wiring... we don't know what kind of wizard made the job to know what kind of spell used to wire the system LOL.
I can give you a wiring diagram and try to track the wiring to find why is not working. For a while you can test the motor simply feeding straight from batt the green wire the blower gets on engine bay side.

thank you sir for your reply. However, I am confused by your locations. Please forgive my ignorance.
What is the "bay side?"
Where is the AC box? I know where the compressor and the dryer are but unfamiliar with the box.
ALSO, I can tell you that the connector (with the dark green, light green and tan wires) that goes into the switch looks burned up.
Do you know what that is called or how I might find one?
Thanks so much for trying to help.

Engine Bay side, is referring to the fire wall in the engine compartment. In the engine compartment, on the back wall, on the passenger side, there is a silver or black round shaped motor. That is the "blower" for the AC/heat fan.
The AC box is the big box looking thing you can see under the dash on the passenger side, behind the glove box. A glove box is the door on the dash that opens that no one has ever put gloves in for at least 75 years. LOL Sorry, just couldn't help myself.
The burned up connector is for the blower switch. It could be burned due to bad blower motor or bad switch.
It is called the "Blower switch"

Ok. Thanks for clarifying on the bay side and ac box. I am familiar with both of these components. The existing blower switch is still mounted in the ac control module. When I unhooked the wired connector and looked at it, it was burned up. I appreciate your comedy. I like it. I'd love to continue reaching out to you.
thanks again. I will take what you gave me and start troubleshooting.

73/74 speed blower switch has been allways known to get hot enought to melt down the plug and maybe that's the reason why it was replaced by an external switch?. It can be fixed thought. Plug is available and some relay added. I made it and can guide you. The blower sucks A LOT of current and the contacts on the 73/74 speed selector are weak for it. Plus, old motors are not really efficient, PLUS the years of contacts getting worn/dirty/oxidized
If you search for electrical suppliers on the web you can find 3 way packard 56 female plugs/receptacles and they use to be CHEAP. There are some 3 ways versions indexed diff, like U shapped or stacked/triangle shapped ( the one you need ). Not hard to find
The actual blower power switch is the main control switch selector and the lever switch just routes the power to the resistor block on A/C box to get the power lowered to the according speed. If you bypass or disconect the blower speed selector the system will turn on on low speed by default. I can dig on this to you later. Being bussy right now.
About positing pics, don't use the board image upload option, because the board capacity fpr this is full. Will need to use an external hosting site and use the image link to be posted using the board tools.
Aaaaahm, and sorry for the lack of details on my previous post.
