Why We Love The 1971 Dodge Charger R/TAnother article that reads like it was written by a person for whom English is a second language, but at least it's a positive review of the 3rd gen. I don't know how accurate it is - Say what?! If the rear spoiler is remote operated, not only do I have to have that, but I have to find a way to make it tilt like a hypercar wing when I brake, just to screw with people. I mean, why not? The retractable hood scoop is like the Murcielago's "bat wings," thirty years earlier. I bet no one's thought of it like that before. Was the HEMI really that fast? I recall a vintage review that had the 440 R/T running no better than 7.0, and I've heard a few times that the 440 was faster than the HEMI.

That's the problem with the easy acces to the internet ( for the wrong ) LOL...
They say 4 trims levels where it were 6 ( coupe, basic hardtop, Superbee, 500, SE, R/T )
And go on...

"Dodge wanted to blow "innovation" off the roof with the third-generation Charger. These included features like a remote-operated dynamic rear spoiler, a more focused front spoiler, and lighter center caps for wheels. All of these were showcased on the 1970 1/2 Concept. But none of the futuristic features (except for the Ramcharger) made it to production."

Not great. But by sourcing data from 4 other places, this author seems to have come closer to the truth than in the last article. I do love seeing the enthusiasm though.

The concept adjustable spoiler was made by 71wingcars, purple one.

Another strange review with dubious claims and broken English - LinkThe adjustable wing is intriguing, but it's the fake vent on the door that's catching my eye. Looks like a nice alternative to hunting down rallye doors. Hmm the above article appears to be plagiarized from here - LinkI thought I might see if the wing was available, but it looks like 71wingcars.com is gone. I did turn up a video of a high speed run in the K&K Insurance Charger - I thought the car would do better than 205.6. Only a 4 mph improvement on a 70 Daytona Charger? That doesn't seem right.

I do love that adjustable rear wing design. Expensive to build and install I suppose, but it's cool! The door vent is a carryover styling detail from 1970.

I'm fine with using the 70 door vent if it vents and was something Chrysler originally considered. I've been looking for them but they are not easy to find. They've also got an indent in the for the R/T badge which I would need filled.
About the rear wing, I'm surprised at how big and fast it was. It would definitely be believable as an air brake.

I do love that adjustable rear wing design. Expensive to build and install I suppose, but it's cool! These may be famous last words but - I think I can do it. It will have to be a combination of foam, 3D printed parts, and carbon fiber. The only real difficulty I see is getting the wing to match the curve of the trunk. If it were flat I could use a straight carbon fiber tube for the spar. Someone on RCgroups.com will know how to build it.
