Hey everyone! I have a 1973 charger hardtop, and I am possibly looking to purchase a 1974 SE for a parts car (mainly interior components). Are those cars compatible or should I try to look for a '73 parts car?? Thank you, Happy Restoring! Duncandonuts

well, about interior... SE mostly sure gets brougham door upper panels. Will fit fine on hartop doors but won't meet the rear uppers due the quarter window setup made for SEs. SOOOO you will find unmatched panels between brougham panel doors and not brougham rear uppers from your hardtop. IT IS POSIBLE you find a REALLY ARD TO FIND Brougham setup into a hardtop ( I got a non common donor car with those and now they are on my car ) OR, SE with non brougham upper door panels in which case will be able to use the door panels matching with your rears but still will need to keep your own rears.
C pillar sail panels are two diff monsters between SEs and Hardtops/coupes. While Hardtop/coupes are plastic, SEs are cardobard with headliner trim cover. It fits molded to the sail panel area due the lot of trim around, while plastic sail panels are molded itself to fit into the car.
diff roof rail trim too between hardtop/coupes and SEs
now, about diff year. ON 74 the lower rear panel got an extra trim to hide the shoulder belt retractor, ( 74s got 3 points full retractor system ) soooo, talking about plastic parts, rear lower panels won't match correctly on your 73... could fit, yes but will look weird.
74s uses a diff coat hook, but will interchange and fit without problems, diff three spokes steering wheel will be diff but interchanges.
Front seatbelts are a diff monster between 73 and 74. Rears are the same thought.
Talking about interior the rest will be pretty much the same. Soo all depends on your exactly needs.
Diff wiring too between 73 and 74. 74 is a one year monster. 72s are closer to 73 than 73 to 74 on this area.
some other differences on sheet metal... diff shoulder belt provision on roof, diff trunk floor board, diff gas tank straps disposition along with diff tank, diff firewall due a diff shape for the steering column bracket system ( 74s got the A body design as far I recall )... some other smaller differences too
74 LCA got pressed in ball joints while 73s are threated in.
that´s on a quick review
