Hey everyone, just installing my carpet in my 72 Charger, moved from column shift to Slap Stik. Not sure how to cut or not cut the carpet for the Torque Shaft Assembly (orange arrow) that comes from the transmission and attaches under the console. Does anyone have a picture with the console not attached? Thanks in advance. ** Borrowed picture from the web Also any tips on getting the rod through the rubber boot? I bought a repro boot.

Just cut a square with 3 sides like a flap and use carpet tape to keep it placed under the shifter rod. On the boot, cut a circle somewhat like the bright lights floor button. The repo boot should have the hole already in it and you will just need to push the shaft from underneath thru the boot. You may need to loosen the shaft first in order to get it thru the boot. Once everything is secured, the console will cover any imperfections. Sorry I don't have any pics of mine but it wasn't that hard after torturing myself trying to figure out the same issue years ago. That project only took 2 Coronas to complete

Give me a little time to go through my pictures. I should have some. I know there was one place I cut a little too much but the seat covered it up. Should be able to post something up in the morning.
