I wonder if the stripes are painted on? Would the 71 vinyl stripe follow the 73 bodylines that well?

That's a good looking 3rd gen. I love the SD 455 cars. It was a real battle for Pontiac to get that engine out, especially when everyone else was running away from horsepower. I'm just back from the Trans Am Nationals, and Herb Adams was there to talk about the engine (he's the Supervisor - Special Projects shown in the engine dyno room with the SD 455 in the video above) on it's 50th anniversary. A very cool piece.

Love the 2nd gen Firebirds and Camaros. I mostly see 5th and 6th gen Camaros now. Every now and then a 4th gen. Crazy considering what a popular car they used to be.
On the other hand, I see so many 2nd gen S10 pickups that it seems like GM must still be making them. How did so many survive?

The old S-10s are pretty thin on the ground up here. Most have rusted away. Some became hot-rod chassis donors.
I forgot to add this video link last night. I was still celebrating the Lions win! The sound is awful, but it's fun to see a young Herb Adams talking about his baby.
