I got my permit on Sunday and it rained yesterday and this morning which washed all the salt off the roads. So I drove my charger for the first time today. I found out that I need a bearing somewhere in the rear end. I also found out my dad doesn't like it when the go pedal is on the floor. And I was revved at by my first ricer today bu the turned the wrong way. The charger ran great, sounded better and burned about 1/4 tank of gas. Had lots of fun and got to a top speed of 45mph. Dan

Dan G'day Dan, mate, as you get older you realise that there will always be annoying little germs that pull up next to you wanting a run.......and that it's usually the cars that CAN go fast, that don't bother speeding off. Keep them wondering. When you own cars like we do, you've got nothing to prove. Enjoy your Charger, and listen to your dad. Peter ;D Sydney, Australia.

#angelwing# Amen to that, brother! Any fool can wind 'er up, dump the clutch (or stomp the gas), and look like a fool as they do a burnout at an intersection. It takes real class to not only NOT look a fool, but rather to look cool! (Remember Dan, when you drive your Charger like a maniac, you're giving the rest of us Muscle Car owners a bad reputation... or making the public's perception of us worse than it already is!) Go and drive in peace, my son, and sin no more! #angelwing# ~Father Jerry~

The amount of times I get these young wombats lining up next to me at the lights, revving their engines....the thing is every single person in their cars are leering lustfully at my Charger. When you slowly pull away it's like you're not even bothering to waste the time by smashing them - and that's a lot cooler. Reputation over skylarking any day. Peter

Dan I know you had a blast. I remember a few years back when I was able to take mine out for the golden voyage. What a rush!! 1/4 tank of gas? That equates to about a 15 minute drive. LOL

It was about an hour drive all around my county. I drove 5 under the limit most the time just because I could and only got on it on one road ,which is a steep hill and about 1/2 mile long, because I wanted to hear the engine under load then the yellow focus pulled behind me once the hill leveled and started tailgating me so I let up on the gas and tapped the brakes 5 times just so the lights would come on and he backed off.

Very cool Dan! Don't let others foolishness become your own. I don't remember the first time I drive with my permit, though Dad trained all us boys to drive, just pre-permit, at the State Fairgrounds in our town. Lots of very large, open, empty parking lots there. I DO remember my first drive in the Duster solo....drove over to Sam's pizza to pickup the families dinner.

Lots of very large, open, empty parking lots there. I DO remember my first drive in the Duster solo....drove over to Sam's pizza to pickup the families dinner. HEY DAN! #WaveHi# My Driver Training-1965 began at 10 years old, out on deserted roads in the hills in a 49 Buick Roadmaster called Big Red. My Clutch Training-1966 started at 11 years old--same hills--in a 49 Ford Tudor (flathead V8, 3 on the tree) our family had named him Tiger. My First Permit Run-1970 was in a 69 Cadillac Sedan DeVille on the mean streets of Santa Maria, California at age 15-1/2 (Mom's car and it was named Powder...as in Powder Blue...what a Magnificent Land Yacht!). Driver's Test-1971 taken in a 63 Ford Galaxie 2 door named Blackie (my 1st real car, "co-owned" by my twin brother), and the stupid Examiner marked me off 1 point (only) because he had already marked my brother off 1 point on his test and, "I don't want you boys going home and gettin' in a fight over who had the highest score." ....the Jerk!! (As if THAT was going to keep us from fighting!!) #NutKick# First Solo Run-same day as Test was in Blackie to go pick up dinner for the family at Shakey's Pizza....Man, was I struttin' in Tall Cotton!! ;D Thanks for the Memory Restoration, Dan...and just worry about your own safe driving practices....don't try to control others' driving habits, because YOU'LL only end up getting hurt. And you're not going to change their bad driving, anyway. Have fun with it, Dan!! #2Thumbs# Jer.

I drove it for the second time tonight to school and home for some meeting. I have 5 quarts of used oil in the garage would it help if I put some in a spray bottle and sprayed it in the wheel wells to help protect them.
