I am not removing the under dash unit jus the lines and compressor and condensor. The items will be kept and stored. The engine bay looks so nice. Growing up we never had A/C and the only vehicle we have with A/C is my new (used) S10. Yes, sometimes A/C is nice but I don't mind the heat here in Pa. It's not a horsepower issue with me just cosmetics. Bob

Nice tip. Thanks. I have another 400 motor I think was non ac and I saved the pulleys. Now to see if I can find them. One more thing. If you dont have the right pulleys you may have problems. If you remove the compressor, the top part of that belt is now around the top of the crank pulley. (new shorter belt of course). Now if you look at your crank pulley you will see the bottom bolt of the water pump is right there. This may cause you problems. Mine is very close to the bolt and looks like it rubs but I dont think it does. Moparguy01 says his chews up his belts, so unless you want to take that chance I would recommend getting the right pulleys before removing the compressor. Heres a pic of mine.
