Here I am in a good Federal job and was offered another job with HLS. My dilemma is, I love what I do and get a lot of gratification out of it. The new job pays more but starting over again at my age is something to think about. I know some of you young guns (except Tom) think money money money, get it while you can and be miserable for years. I'm on the fence right now. I guess some of you older guys may have a different approach to this. Bob

If you love what you do and the money at your current job is good enough to meet your families needs, consider yourself VERY fortunate. My experience is that the more money you make, the more you will spend. I don`t feel that my "quality of life" is at all any better if I make $80k a year as opposed to not working as hard and making $45k
For years,I worked 6 days a week, 12 hour days..... just chasing the almighty dollar. All it did was physically wear me out and cost me time that I should have spent with my family.
I work to live, I don`t live to work.

I think I am going to stay where I'm at. I know a lot of people here will be happy. Oh well, what's money. Pete has all that misfortune going on in his life and here I am turning down more money.

Tom is exactly right Bob. If you enjoy it, and it meets you needs, stay where your at. Money isn't everything.... well, unless you really could use it like me

I guess some of you older guys may have a different approach to this. Bob Come on now Bob, don't be stereotypic now..... I'm one of those young guns, lol, and while I do say go for the money, I focus that saying to my age range. On the other hand, the odler you get, the more cautious you need to be with changing jobs. Also, if you like your current job, and don't have a problem with it, then why leave it? More money is nice, but "the grass isn't always greener on the other side" so I say, stay where you're at. But in my case, I'm ready to move on, I've been getting knocked down each time it's my turn for any kind of promotion, so I'm getting fed up with them, so I'm on the look out my own self for another job, would be nice to get one of them federal jobs though, lol. Most of them pay more than what I make now, so...... I've talked with some Home Land Security folks, and some misc goverment jobs also.... Went to apply for some that, for some reason, I passed up looking for others, when I got back to it, it was no longer posted, so.... I only passed it up b/c I wasn't sure if it was something I would want to do, finaly made my mind up, and it was gone, so.... Don't hold back for any of my fellow "young guns" that are out there, lol. Anyway, once again, I say.... Keep it. Money isn't everything.

I had overwhelming responses to stay and be happy on 2 sites. My wife and have pretty much decided for me to stay put. The folks I work with are great, the job is challenging and rewarding. Maybe not financially but hey, I got a job that is secure. Thanks All

Glad somebody is happy where they work. Though some people don`t believe me when I say this....I`d be tickled pink if our company closed the location I work at. When that happens, they give you 1 weeks severance pay for every year worked plus any accrued vacation owed. That would be great start up money to go into business for myself....which is what I have been wanting to do for several years ... My service manager got real bug eyed last Saturday when I suggested that as being something that would make me happy.

Not personally knowing you, I believe you would do great in business for yourself. "Tom's Repair and Towing" The towing is for when you repair it.
