I hate wiring.....For me its the most frustrating time consuming part of my restoration.....I just don't have the patience for it.......how ever It has to be done... The harness's I have came in a garbage bag......three sets of them!...all intertwined like a clump of Christmas lights all tangled up......arrgggghhhhh..... Three hours later I got them separated sorted and some what figured out.... Question though........ 1 ...Is there a harness that runs for the rear speakers....I assume there is, does anyone have a picture of it?....and does it run on the passenger side of the car??? 2....what would connect to the rear defog...?? 3... I have a wire on the rear harness that I assume goes to the gas tank.....but, it has a small grommet on it that has to go thru the body somewhere but I cant tell where....can someone tell me/show me by picture where the wire gets routed?... As you can see I am hopeless.....anything else I can do, but wiring sigh.....Nacho why cant you live close by!...

Do you have a factory STEREO AM-FM ? If not, speaker wiring goes only to the speaker in the dash. If YES, I think there's just one rear speaker and the speaker in the dash. I will have to defer to Nacho or a wiring diagram if I'm wrong here (which is entirely possible) and for more detail. 2. Hopefully you have the underdash switch for rear defog. There's a combo green & black wire mini-harness from the switch that goes through the driver's side channel back to the blower. Runs next to the taillight harness. The light for the switch should have an orange wire which will plug into a multi-socket end connector. Sorry, I forget what color, probably orange. I think there's a similar green wire off the switch connector which plugs into the "power" multi connector. 3. There's a hole in the trunk floor where the blue gas gauge wire goes through and the grommet snaps into. I wish I could have been more precise on 1 & 2, sorry. This post has some dash wiring pics. Pic 1 shows the defog switch on the lower part of the dash. It's got the 3-terminal connector. See the orange multi-plug above it? wichargerguy.proboards101.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=electrical&thread=2856&page=1#25521

I think my car had an AM radio only and had a dash speaker and a rear shelf speaker.....someone( some dummy) had removed the rear defrost and added a second rear speaker and looks like they added speaker wire spliced to the rear speaker harness......is the rear speaker wire part of the tailight harness...or is it a seperate harness?......I think its seperate.... ? The gas tank wire I believe was blue....but the only hole in trunk area are slightly larger then the factory gromet and they are more towards center of trunk floor...I really need to see where this darn wire feeds thru..... Do any wires or harness run down the passenger side of the car?......or is that only if you have power windows?? As I stated...I HATE WIRING Thanks Q man for your quick response

Probably want help much, but here's mine before I took my dash out: Also for the wires that go to the back: Here is my factory setups for the factory rear defogger and speaker: Hope these help out some, keep in mind this is of my '72 Charger SE after I bought it. Somethings you will be able to tell aren't factory, like those black and white wires in the trunk pic's. All this will be right, eventually).

Thanks hotrodder....I assuming based on your pics that my car never had a rear defog.....anyone know if this has a code I would find on my buildsheet?? dont have any pics of the gas tank wire do you? Thanks allot! You are very much welcome. As for the code, yes there is one for it. Which one though, ummm..... I looked at my fender tag decodings, and there's not a code for it, but I know there's one on the build sheet, I just can't seem to remember what it is, if I can figure it out based on what I found of my original build sheet, I'll let you know. Found it, if I could read it right, and I think I did, on the build sheet, under the pink/red section (whatever color that is supposed to be), H section (Heater - A/C) there is an area called "RR HEATER OR DEF" I have the number code of 31 here...... Just to the left of this is the "FT. HEATER A/COND. UPR/VENT" and the number code there for mine says 51....... I hope this helps a little more.

Ask, and ye shall receive! Thanks!.......I cannot believe they ran this wire right across the trunk floor!!!!!!!!.......without it being protected...wow thats crazy! Right where this gas tank wire splices into the rear harness by the wheel well I see another connector ....mine has the same what is this for?

Usually the wire is under the trunk mat, otherwise, yes, it's pretty much unprotected. As for the other connectors in that area, I figure you have your tail light wires, side marker wires, trunk light wire, speaker wire(s), rear defroster (defogger which ever you prefer, l-o-l), gas sending unit, and what ever else you may have back there.

1 ...Is there a harness that runs for the rear speakers....I assume there is, does anyone have a picture of it?....and does it run on the passenger side of the car??? yes, JUST if you have a MONO Radio ( no matter if AM or AM/FM ) with rear speaker fader on map light insert, or an Stereo Radio. On both cases, harness runs from kick panel area to rear. Then between Radio and kick panel area ON BOTH CASES there are an extra harness to splice the signal from radio to front speaker and rear speakers. On MONO setups, the rear fader is in the middle of the equation. The Setup with just one rear speaker ( mono or stereo where stereo rear speaker is right channel although is at left side of car ) the harness carries just two wires, black and green. On double rear speakers, harness does have of course three wires ( black, green and violet ) to feed bot channels. On doublre rearspeaker option, car does have two left side speakers ( front works with left always ) and one right side, what is the bigger 6x9 speaker at right side. Left side hole is 5x8. 2....what would connect to the rear defog...?? a black and white wire harness. Both carries 12 volts. Switch down teh dash is just a selector of what wire will be powered to get directly to motor or what wire will go through reisistor mounted on motor. Ground is chassis. This harness runs also from kick panel area. Another harness is between kick panel and rear deff switch. This wiring carries of course black and wire wires and a green wire with yellow bullet plug to plugg at the accesories source provision on underdash harness. 3... I have a wire on the rear harness that I assume goes to the gas tank.....but, it has a small grommet on it that has to go thru the body somewhere but I cant tell where....can someone tell me/show me by picture where the wire gets routed?... already ilustrated on pics ;D unprotected? well kinda off but is not a big deal because bigger "damage" you can get is a full reading on gauge, nothing else. .....Nacho why cant you live close by!... because I can't get a green card without a Job up there
