Yes H31 is rear defrost. No, it doesn't show up on the Fender Tag. It is only gonna show up on the Build Sheet & Window Sticker. H51 is A/C, which requires a different firewall & does show up on the Fender Tag.

OK............I had a duh moment!..... When I had painted my trunk floor I taped the holes in the trunk pan from underneath the car......I took all the tape off except the one covering the gas tank gromet hole.....and of course the tape was painted body color and I missed it.....mystery solved there!.. Nacho I read a piece you had written at the other charger forum about ballest resistors..........My harness has the Single ballest....it seems damaged I do have a double resistor......can this be used if you just use one side of the double resistor? Do the dealers still sell ballest resistors? In this photo I see the rear harness connector I have is for the trunk light?......its right where the gas tank wire runs into the harness...........also I see there is the wire that runs to the rear defog.......this is the wires u mentioned Nacho......does it run from the drivers side of the car over to the defog...or from the passenger side?...

though I'm not Nacho, on my '72 SE when I got it, someone had replaced the double ballast resistor with a single type, and then cut off the extra wires.... At first (before I started learning a thing or two about the third gen Chargers......), I thought someone had totally messed the harness up, and removed a bunch of things.... I also figured that the single resistor that was on there, was factory.... Wrong. I started seeing pic's of the double type, and got curious, started looking at other 3rd gen Chargers, and what do you know, someone messed it up in deed. Flash forward some, I have a new harness, and the correct double style ballast resistor. As for the car in the pic, I see that they are trying to sale what appears to be a parted car. I want the tail lights for sure if they'll part more of it.... L-o-L

lets' go with basics first
-single resistors are to 4 pins module.
-double resistors are to 5 pins module.
-Can you work a double resistos in a 4 pins module ? yes, simply that the aux secondary resistance will be unused ( will arrive to the empty space at module ). 4 pins module have the aux resistance now inside the module.
-Can you work a single resistor in a 5 pins Module ? SUPPOSELLY NOT, even somebody told at Moparst once was workung on that way. PROBABLY made it work but without a good ignition job. If that was true, maybe was getting a bad timing, bad spark quality or whatever affects a perfect working function. I didn't end to read the laters replies on that thread.
-Can you work your setup, what being a 71 I think It must be an electronic Ignition upgrade with single plugs to single resistor on a dual resistor ? definitelly yes as far to get the propper ignition ( hotter spark ), use the right side of resistor ( the lower ohms of both ). At the end will be the same that you have the dual terminal ballast plugs but this time just without the wire to the unexistant pin at module. However to save from that ballast confusion, to get a better spark and being you already have single terminal plugs, try to get a single ballast, because they are 1/4 of ohm. Single ballast on Elec ignition are just to feed coil, like on points ignition.
The lower primary reisistance on dual ballast I have found is .5 ohms, but they normally are on 1 or 1.5 ohms ratio. Getting the 1/4 ohm single resistor will give you hotter spark and still safe to coil. There is not sense on use a dual ballast on an ALREADY DONE single ballast setup.
Secondary resistance is 5 ohms
Myself I still have dual ballast with my MP Ignition box ( chromed 4 pins ), but simply because I din't want to get rid off the double terminals plugs and the extra wire... you know, to keep the factory looks. I have 0.5 ohms at primary on this, so is good enough at least by now for me.
beside that in case of emergency on a road trip with a fail on Module, if I need to get an urgent replacement part, is a lotery if I find 4 or 5 pins moudles down here, so if I only get the replacement part with 5 pins, I still will be able to save the situation and keep going on! Modules here are available EVERYWHERE though, but pins configuration is a lottery, specially inside the country
single and dual resistors availability at dealers ? up there I think yes. You should know better than me ;D. Down here at least same as ign modules they are everywhere, but once again, at least inside the country, is about lottery get both available or just one of them.
One thing for sure... they are available at ebay, summit, YR1, Paddock etc..., but I think you talk about local dealer, and not some dealer you have to pay shipping. I never checked if when I was on the Road Trip up to Carlisle with Jer, they were available at Kragen, Advance and all that kind of parts dealers, but I can't imagine they weren't available on those. Down here you can find on practically any gas station with a shop.
wiring:
all harnesses goes through driver side.
