I am sure most of you know this, but for some of you that don't and are looking for some Mopar projects..
If you find that project you have been wanting ask about the frame rails... If someone sells a car that has rusted away frame rails ..OR...if they have replaced Frame rails by Federal Law they must Tell you that. In most States is is classified as a Wreck Rebuild and will be titled so..which does effect the price.
Alot of the Back yard builders may replace a frame rail for rust damage, but getting the Geometry right is a Major task.
Like I said, ask questions, look at the Title....if they tell you frame work has been done, ask for a reciept proving a Proper Frame Shop did the repairs so you know you are not going to build a hopeless case.
If you have bought a car like this already..ask the seller to fix the frame problem or just give you back your $$$, they refuse....real simple....Take the issue to your Local State Police.. not County Police...they will handle it for you.
The reason I tell you this is it does happen all the time......
We have a customer who bought a 70 R/T Charger off eBay, they told him it had no frame damage....when we took it apart....the front was rotted pretty bad.....covered up by Bondo....
The car lot told him...oh don't worry we will take care of that for you.....well they seemed to vanish.....But...The State Police are now looking for them...and sooner or later their little group will be back in the car business...so they will be caught.....in whatever State they move to.
Now the Customer will spend some serious$$$ for repairs......and he shoud have done what?.......ASK
