I'm putting on some new Mopar Performance valve covers on my 440 and just wanted to hear about some other folk's experiences with gaskets. What's the best way to go?

Myself personaly have not used any "exotic" ones, I've used that cork style, it was ok. Then went to the black rubber ones, those seemed a little better. When I rebuild this 383, I'm gonna try out the MR. GASKET Ultra Seal set, see how they do.... Luckily this 383 already has valve cover studs, should be alot easier on assembly.

I can see where having studs in place would help alot. I had a 68 Chrysler 300 w/ 440 that I used the rubber gaskets on, and I could not get them to seal up completely. I may have to try the Mr. Gasket set. Thanks. WJ

I have read quite a few horror stories about the MP valve covers and people trying to get them to seal up well. IIRC, they are manufactured in Mexico and the quality control leaves to be desired.

Yet another reason why, when I rebuild this 383, I'm planning on keeping my factory covers.... Also, other than intake, and color, gonna try and keep it looking..... innocent... ;D

Drove the Charger to a show 10 miles away yesterday, it doesn't leak bad, just a whiff of burnt-oil now & then. (Old valve covers) But it bugs the heck outa me. #nutkick# Made in Mexico, I didn't know that. Well, I'm not giving up yet.

I have a highly-modified 400 (bored & stroked to a 474) in my Charger & went back to the stock valve covers- and the Edelbrock Torker 383 intake is painted to match the rest of the engine.
