OK I have read Rocky's thread on the dash cap...And have seen some installed...they are great for cosmetic refurb..and I see nothing wrong with them... However I want Factory look and feel.......now I see so called MINT original pads on Ebay sell for up to $600 or more...I am afraid if I buy one is it only a matter of time before it cracks? Who makes the BEST replacement part?...I see ones on Ebay for around $400 but they look saggy already as I believe they have no steel frame inside Is it best to buy from JUST DASHES?......somewhat costly but I hear great things about them.... I will have to find a core as I threw my old one out as it was really cracked!..... Any other recommendations as to who/where to buy a great factory appearing replacement?

hands down, ultimate rides. dont buy that one on eBay that looks like its sagging in the middle. It has a fiberglass frame. The one you want will require a core or have a core chare. I forget ultimate rides user id on Ebay. I`ll try to figure that out.

nitrouspowered (ultimate rides) is the seller of the good repros. I have one. It looks great. They are done on original steel cores, so you know they will fit right. I should mention that they feel "harder" than a original pad. I suspect/assume that is due to more modern materials being used.

Original survivor dashpads get hard on the surface. Saddlesoap should bring them back. I'm just leary of even bothering with them though. When my girlfriend totalled my first 70 Charger, my head hit the dash, it cracked & split my scalp about 5 inches. So I have a permanent part in my hair & a new dash in my 72! That was in the early 80s. I'm OK - well, Tom, Jer & Nacho might say that explains alot.....

I think he does group buys from time to time. Vaseline is the best bet for bringing back an old pad. NEVER use Armor-All. It will pull all the oil out of the vinyl and make the pad crack unless the Armor-All is re-applied weekly for life. It's like crack for your dash. Get it? Dash Crack! hahahahaha
