I tried rebuilding the passenger side hinges on my 73, but I don't know if it did any good. I think it might just be because the front of the car is so high up. But I just replaced the pins and there wasn't any play in them, and none of the rollers were broken or the S-spring ate up. But it doesn't hold when I open it all the way. But it is raised really high in the front. But for the driver's side I'd like to get some already professionally rebuilt, at least the lower hinge. The upper there isn't much to. Who offers them? Year One has only got the lowers up to 72, that doesn't have the S-spring.

SMS is the supplier for YR1 and just offers the earlier style lower hinges. SMS website refers to their hinge sets as 71-74 which is not exactly correct. The ones they sell are only "correct" for 71-73. On a 73, either style lower hinge can be correct. There was a in year change. Most of the 73`s that I have owned or parted out have had the earlier style lower hinge with no S spring.
If originality is a must, try the NOS dealers but expect to pay out the nose. If originality is not a huge issue, buy the rebuilt set from YR1. Later Chargers, Magnums, Cordobas (75-79?)etc etc use the same lower hinge with the S spring. To the best of my knowledge, no one is currently rebuilding the 73-79 style lower hinges.

I removed my driver's side door today and I saw that it has the 72 and earlier hinges with no S-spring on the lower hinge. I also noticed something I don't remember seeing on the passenger side hinge when I initially took it off. The center bolt of the upper hinge on the body of the driver's side had the bolt coming through the interior out instead of through the body into the interior. So you would've had to move the kick panel to get to that one bolt. Is that how the bolts are suppose to be arranged? Year One doesn't offer the lower hinge separate only a set of 4. I only need the driver's side. So I will have to rebuild these. Is it a matter of just replacing the pin? How do I know if I need to bush the holes where the pin goes?

I cant remember lowers So I will have to rebuild these. Is it a matter of just replacing the pin? How do I know if I need to bush the holes where the pin goes? Well in fact more than the pin is the hole what gets badly worn... so definitelly you will need to bush them. I had to mill down a little bit the bushings and hinges parts to make them fit. There is a really small gap to make the bushing lip fit bewteen both sections of hinges.
