I just got my 72 SE brought up from Georgia and i actually had the chance to see what i bought. the car itself looks pretty good but has some rust issues on the lower 1/4 panels and a little on the rockers as well. there is some surface rust on the trunk lip and underside of the hood. besides those issues the car is almost origanal. now my question that i have is...to have the car restored what have you all payed to have it done on a 72?? im just trying to get an idea what to expect. any recomendations to a good restoration shop in the Delaware/Maryland area?? thanks..

good luck !! not too much body parts to 3rd gens... even less on 71/72. Mostly will need homemade patches

Last summer I had the auto trans rebuilt in my 72 SE. They rebuilt what I had because they are hard to find from a wholesale rebuilder. (big block style) The mechanic who did the work was very experienced, and showed me all the worn out parts he was replacing. They charged me $850. The car worked much better. It was kind of stressfull handing over the keys! Mechanics like to play with these old musclecars, especially when they don't have to pay for anything but the gas. Be sure you can trust them, to me that's more important than the cost of the repair. The name of the shop was American Transmissions, in Killeen, TX.

Glad you were able to keep your original tranny Glen! Yes, Nacho, this really does seem to be the place for 72 SEs I'm not sure how many members are here or what percentage of us have 72 SEs. Maybe we're just more active
