Chris- you need to take all your trim off first, the vinyl is gluded down is underneath. Be careful removing the trim, take your time. You can buy trim removal tools but I removed mine with a putty knife and screw driver without any damage. Then you can pull all the vinal off and clean all the adhesive off. I used 3M adhesive remove that I picked up at NAPA - it works great. Make sure you clean the trim areas very good, remove any surface rust areas and spray on some good primer or rust preventive. I sanded the entire roof and primered it. I have seen guys install their new vinal themselves which is why I'm having mine professionally put on.
Good Luck

I have done by myself. I removed glasses too to get it better as posible.
advice, PAINT, not just primer. Rust came out on vinyl top cars because were just primered from factory

Emblems should be held on by nuts on the inside of the car..... head liner on sail panel and such needs to be moved to get to these nuts on inside of the car....

SOME vinyl top fasteners are held by nuts, but emblems are held by U clips Hmmm... I know my '69s had nuts on the back of the emblems for both the Charger emblems and the SE emblems, but as for my '72 they had been already removed, so.... #Thinking#

thanks guys, my vinyl roof isnt in too bad of shape, no rips or tears, just faded and i know my roof is solid from removing the headliner, so i may just leave it alone. if i do decide to replace it, ill pay someone to do it right then. sounds kinda hard getting it back on
