Man that is a ton of work, but worth it in the end. You mentioned break in, I hope that you aren't going to do that at 30mph, just kidding, for proper ring seating give it everything you got at the foot feed, just watch your temp gauge.

I don't know if you guys will read this or not but here goes. 1971 Charger 500, bought the car in 1996 for $500.00. Long time ago. I have since street driven and raced the car. The car has won two track championships over the years. Not bad for an old heavy sled. I think the car up around 3745 lbs with me behind the wheel. The last time that it was down the track was last summer and it ran the quarter at 11:11 @ 126 mph. THat was deep staging the car just looking for an rt. I wasn't really unhappy with the pass as we were a little high in the rear gear with 4.30 to 1 but the 4500 stall convertor and the 727 behind that little 400 seemed to put the power down. That was the first pass with the brand new 630 630 roller cam. We were looking for mile an hour and not so much et. Well that worked but the only way that I could cut a light was off idle.Deep staging off idle I came up with a 1.74 sixty foot time. I was surprised that that big 1050 cfm didn't flood everything, but from 900rpm she just lit and left. There is still lots left, in it but it is twenty below zero out side the car is in the shop getting a new Mooser 8.75 rear gear housing to go along with it's very old but very good super stock springs that are making guys with cal tracs wonder if they didn't spend a lot of money for nothing. In fact it was working so well that it was flexing the stock housing, and yes it was reinforced.

...the car is in the shop getting a new Moser 8.75 rear gear housing... You mentioned that you thought the 4.30:1 gears were a bit much...are you changing gears at the same time with the new housing?

lol......on pg.9 of resto/rebuild,with a 17yr. storage stint. i'm back at it again........ skipping to pg.10........just installed super stock leaf springs, the old ones were trashed...so now, time to toss the air shocks as I feel the ride is a little too stiff for my liking....even with no air... ...a little history now. the car is a 1972 Rallye hrdtop.70 440hp2,edlebrock intake / 850 carb, headers, 727 trans.,2.76 gears, 8 3/4 rear end.....ran like the dickens so i'm sure the engine/trans were rebuilt afore I got it at a lien sale. car was stripped for racing, with only a drivers seat..... sale price 2500.00 -5.00 for gas lol....ToBeContinued......
