I just changed the column on my 71 Charger and found that the power wire to the ignition is melted at the connector on both columns. It was bypassed before.
I was just curious what causes this? I would think somebody cut that wire and the blue wire to attempt a "hot wire" or they were working on the column wiring and didn't disconnect the battery when they put it back together? I'm probably going to have to bypass it the same way I found it, but a higher quality splice.

Is very tipical because they came loose easily, beside the fail on charging iddle adds a problem on that. ALL power on car ( except batt side of fuse box and beams ) are feeded throught that wire.
Is not bad Idea remove the wires from plug and attach a better quality terminal outside the plug to plug it appart it.
