Finally I was able to find a new 73 A/C evaporator for a really good price, $148. I've got a new heater core. I've already had the box cleaned, and replaced all the door seals. I wasn't able to duplicate the thick rubber gasket between the box halves. I wasn't able to find any material large enough to cut out a gasket that size. Anyone know where I could get the material? Does it necessarily need to be there? Is the insulation that was glued to the front of the box, the same insulation that would be considered the firewall pad?

Funny you mention it as I put the ac/heater box back in my 72 today. I found nothing I wanted was reproduced. Firewall insulation pad kits only available for non ac cars, and as far as I can tell, nobody has the long insulation pad that is glued to the underside of the cowl.

Nacho, thats just a firewall gasket kit. I know that they are available. I wanted the items specified in my post (insulation pads), not a gasket kit.
